Workshop Equipment Details.
Workshops Requiring Equipment:
It is advisable to provide the following basic items of equipment for working in the Textile print areas:
Dressmaker’s stainless steel pins (not the ones with beaded plastic heads)
Fabric shears
Masking tape
Suitable clothing i.e. old clothes, apron or overall.
We take no responsibility for inappropriate modes of dress.
Gloves and plastic aprons are always available.
EQUIPMENT LIST:
1. Paint brushes: As varied as possible: It would be particularly useful to provide a range, which include a couple of different size varnish brushes e.g. one inch and two inch. (These are available from Richard in the arts shop.)
2. Six glass jars with lids (standard 100grm coffee or jam jars are fine) please remove labels however for reasons of health and safety.
3. Paper scissors, fabric shears and masking tape.
4. A range of drawing equipment:
Particularly pencils, oil pastels, wax crayons and if possible paraffin wax (obtainable from arts
and craft stores or hardware shops. )
5. A range of items to print with e.g. Lino cuts, printing blocks, erasers, leaves, surfaces that rubbings can be taken from, lace or similar type fabrics, strands of yarn or thread, twine, paper doilies etc. Scraps of anything with an interesting surface, as long as they are not too raised, or plastic and metal based in origin.
6. Wear suitable clothing that will provide protection to your arms and other areas which could come into contact with the dyes you will be using.
